Anointing of the Sick

The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick celebrates God’s loving concern for those who are suffering. This sacrament is intended for the strengthening and healing of those who are ill, elderly, undergoing surgery or dying. It may be received when a person is at home,in the hospital, in the nursing home or in church within the liturgy of the Eucharist. The sacrament confers a special grace of healing on the individual that is suffering both physically and spiritually. The church recommends not waiting until the person is dying to receive the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick because it is not just a sacrament of the dying.

Please call the Parish Business Office at 972-875-2834 if you or a loved one wishes to receive this sacrament. After business hours call the emergency pager 972-648-5412.

Sacraments are signs of God’s grace at work in our lives, but even more importantly, they actually bring us the grace that they signify. The washing of Baptism actually washes our soul clean of sin, the vows of Matrimony actually join the man and the woman to one another, and so on. Come celebrate the Sacraments at St. John Nepomucene.
