Safe Environment Training
In keeping in compliance with our Diocese and Parish requirements, please be advised that all volunteers in all ministries are required to fill out a Screening Form, Policy Acknowledgment Form, have a face-to-face interview, have their references checked, and a Criminal Background Check completed before they are allowed to participate in their chosen ministry. Furthermore, all volunteers are to participate in the initial Safe Environment Training session on the Family of Faith course. All initial Family of Faith training and interview MUST be done in person. If they have completed all of the above, then they are only required to renew their training on an annual basis by viewing another video, either online at cathdal.org or at one of the renewal sessions.
The Safe Environment Screening process is not as complicated as it looks, and the volunteers may come by the office during Business Hours and complete the forms and the interview in about 20-30 minutes. Please have them call and schedule a time so our Safe Environment Officer can devote that part of the day to them on an individual basis or several volunteers at once. The Criminal Background Checks are valid for 2 years and at no cost to the volunteers.
Click here to complete the online Screening Form.
All training completed by a volunteer (for all Ministries) is good for one (1) year.
When it is time to renew your clearance, you may choose from the following (3) options:
- You may complete your training online (instructions follow).
- You may choose to attend a re-training session which will be scheduled on several dates prior to the start of our Faith Formation classes this fall. Please check the Church Bulletin for these dates.
- You may choose to come by the Parish Office during our Safe Environment Officer’s business hours, normally 08:00am – 12:00pm, Monday thru Friday. Please call to set up an appointment.
If you choose to do your training online, please follow these steps:
- There will be additional links to the left side of the screen.
- Click on UPDATE Training; then choose one of the six or so subjects.
- Follow instructions so you can complete your online training.
- Download and fill out completely the questionnaire and the participation form. Mail or bring these forms to the office. We need all completed forms so we can update your file and then you will be in compliance with Diocese requirements.
